I’m Elizabeth Goertzen. I am finishing my final year of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I will graduate in the spring of 2023. In 2011 I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from York College. My plan was to take some time off to start a family and go back to pursue my master’s once my youngest started kindergarten. That happened in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to stay at home with my kids while they were little. Now I love that we’re all in school and learning and growing together.
I grew up in North Dakota and moved down to NE for college in 2006. During my undergrad, I interned at Grace Children’s Home in Henderson, NE, for a summer as a house parent for teenagers transitioning from higher levels of care to back home. It was a life-changing experience, and I knew then I wanted to pursue counseling.
My husband, our 4 children, and our many animals live on a farm just outside Henderson. We enjoy spending time with our friends and making and eating delicious food. In my personal spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and smoking meat.
I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to intern with Wholeness Healing Center. I’m a hands-on learner and am so excited to learn from the counselors here.
