Introduction to Marissa Cornelius – Intern

Hello, I’m Marissa Cornelius. I use she/her pronouns. I am eager and excited to learn from our counselors and all the services that Wholeness Healing Center provides. I am working on finishing my master’s degree in Social Work and am scheduled to graduate in the summer of 2023 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2017.
I have had the opportunity to complete three practicums within my undergraduate degree, including at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, The Autism Spectrum Center, and Richard Young Psychiatric Hospital. I completed my first graduate practicum at Encourage Advocacy Center in the spring and summer semesters of 2021. My professional employment experiences include working at a mental health clinic and being an initial assessment case worker with the Department of Health and Human Services, and I am currently working for a non-profit in Grand Island.
I enjoy spending time with my family, my six-year-old corgi named Castiel, and my friends in my spare time. I thrive in nature, and my favorite hobby is hiking in the mountains with my husband, Trevor. I love to travel and have been to four countries, including Mexico, Jamaica, Europe, and Spain, and planning for Indonesia in the upcoming months. I spend a lot of time completing my courses, doing homework, and planning my future. I am excited to graduate next summer and find the opportunities that follow.
