Wholeness Healing Today

Introduction to Staff – Joey Cadek

Hi! I am Joey Cadek, PLCSW, PLMHP (he/him). I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Gerontology from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in December 2016. I also achieved a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in December 2016. I completed a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in May 2021 and joined Wholeness Healing part-time in February 2022. I primarily work in the Ord office but will be offering telehealth services as well. I have been working in the field of social work for seven years now and in the clinical setting for close to four years in a variety of settings, mostly with older adults.

I have developed an interest in depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, and gender identity and identify as part of the LGBTQ population. My coming out story was positive but not everyone can attest to that, so working with those individuals is something I have grown interested in. I have previously worked with the older adult population where I developed a strong passion for helping those individuals work through life transitions.

As a therapist, I strongly believe it is important to understand clients as individuals despite their struggles and work towards getting them back to where they feel successful through a self-discovery model. The therapeutic relationship is crucial in the recovery process and making that connection is what I strive to do.

I currently work as a Program Director of an intensive outpatient behavioral health program working with older adults 55+ and facilitate structured outpatient individual, family, and group therapy. I work with adults through aging concerns, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety related to all sorts of scenarios ranging from retirement, relationship conflict, transitioning to long term care or assisted living environments, to overall aging stress. I enjoy the older adults and the fun they bring to sessions each and every day! The program also provides community outreach and Memory Care and Grief support groups to the local area. Prior to that, I worked as a Director of Social Services in a long-term care facility where I focused on being the best advocate for the residents, providing resources, assessments, and assisting them in their recovery plan. I did my graduate practicum with a Home Health and Hospice agency working with end-of-life patients, providing resources to caregivers and loved ones. I am a Certified Dementia Practitioner and enjoy working with caregivers of loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementias.

I currently live in North Loup and enjoy spending time with my family and friends and love to travel. I am actually a full-service travel agent and love to share my passion of travel with others. I try and stay involved in my community and enjoy volunteering most specifically for the Alzheimer’s Association. I am excited to join this wonderful team of clinicians and learn and grow every chance I get! To schedule an appointment with Joey call 308.382.5297.
