Wholeness Healing Today

Introduction to Staff – Kali Almond

Hi!  I’m Kali Almond, PLMHP.  I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling in May 2011 from Denver Seminary and my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Utah in May 2007.  I have been working as a school counselor for over 10 years working in schools and spent a year working as a school-based therapist with Family Service Lincoln.  Currently I am a school counselor at Lincoln Southwest High School and I’m excited to start working part-time at Wholeness Healing Center PC.

When I work with people, I believe they have the strength and ability in themselves to reach their goals. They just need someone to meet with them along the way and help bring out those strengths, skills and abilities. Connecting with people and meeting them along their walk in life is what I am passionate about.  Connecting with others in our world in a meaningful and changing way is harder and harder to do and I find that working with a therapist and having someone help navigate the way is really helpful and healing.

I first got to work with clients as a practicum student working with adults and adolescents at the community-based counseling clinic my school had on site, Denver Counseling Center.  I then moved into a position as a school counselor working in a middle school for four years in New Castle, Colorado and then in a high school in Rifle, Colorado.  I enjoyed providing individual and group counseling sessions to students regarding career development, academic achievement, social behavior skills, and mental and physical health needs.

Cultivating supportive, engaging, and trauma-informed environments and services that allow for individuals to reach their full potential is one of my goals.  Before I started my graduate program in Colorado, I did get to live for a year as a short-term missionary in Rijeka, Croatia.  Through this and many other experiences I have gotten to work with diverse populations and continue to increase my scope of understanding each person’s unique and individual perspective.

My family relocated to Nebraska, and I was able to obtain my PLMHP license and had the opportunity to work with Family Service Lincoln as a school-based therapist in Wahoo, NE.  This did include a portion of telehealth work as we all started to navigate the pandemic and work from home.  I loved figuring out ways to connect and engage with students K-12 virtually.  I was able to move into a position as a school counselor in Lincoln and have enjoyed the last two years working again with high school students to support their social-emotional, academic and career and college needs.  I’m excited to partner with the Wholeness Healing Center and help others work towards positive growth in their lives.
