Staff Introductions – Keesha McQuay

Hello, I’m Keesha McQuay, PLMHP/PLCSW. I’m deeply passionate about supporting people of all ages and backgrounds, especially those who have experienced complex trauma or are navigating challenging obstacles. My goal is to create a safe, encouraging space where people feel heard, understood, and supported—no matter what they’re walking through.
I earned my bachelor’s in social work from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and completed my master’s in social work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. For nearly a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to work with children, teens, adults, older adults, couples, and families in a variety of roles—from therapist and skill builder to family specialist—with a focus on helping individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult moments.
I take a warm, trauma-informed approach to therapy and believe in meeting people where they are. I welcome individuals from all walks of life, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and individuals of all faiths and belief systems. I’ve trained in several evidence-based practices, including Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), CBT, DBT, and Integrative Attachment Family Therapy, and I’m always eager to continue learning and growing as a clinician.
I’m always looking for new opportunities to make a positive impact in mental health. Last year, I conceptualized and developed a research-informed group program, “Grapple With Your Past,” in collaboration with two co-facilitators to explore the impact of jiu-jitsu on trauma symptoms for survivors of violence. I’ve served as a consultant for program development, mentoring other professionals in meeting the needs of the community and advocating for those experiencing hardship.
Outside of sessions, I care for my own well-being through training in mixed martial arts, watching anime, thrifting, and quiet evenings with a book and a cup of tea—activities that help me stay grounded, balanced, and connected to the importance of mind-body care.
I’m still fairly new to Grand Island. I will be providing full-time services in Grand Island as well as in Kearney part-time during this transition.
