Carolyn Haney,MSW, LMHP is working at Wholeness Healing Center as a part time therapist in the Grand Island office. She received her Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Wyoming, and her Bachelor in Arts in Psychology and English from Chadron State College. She has been a social work practitioner for over 20 years.
Experience
Her past experiences are diverse including teaching undergraduate and graduate social work students, community readiness evaluations, a member of an assessment team for children with disabilities, working with children and families, Hospice, program administration and most recently working as a school based mental health therapist for the past five years..
Carolyn has experience working with diverse populations and an openness to seeking understanding of each individual’s unique experiences. She considers herself an ally for individuals with disabilities and the LGBTQ+ community.
Carolyn’s experiences have solidified her belief that the relationship is the core of any therapeutic process. Learning skills related to self-care and boundaries are key to making lasting change.
Training
Carolyn has training specific to early childhood mental health, play therapy and sand tray. She holds a certificate in play therapy from the University of Wyoming. She has additional training in Psychological First Aid (crisis response team training), Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET), Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), and Gottman level 1 and 2. Carolyn is also a trainer for QPR (Question, Persuade and Refer) for suicide prevention.
Personal
Carolyn has been married for 32 years, has three children, one amazing son-in-law, two dogs, two cats and two grand dogs. She loves to be outside, in particular she loves to hike, garden, watch the birds and find the beauty in nature each day. She enjoys a wide variety of crafts including knitting, embroidery, sewing and baking. Carolyn loves a good story whether it be a book or a movie. She loves to travel and experience diversity.
