MEET OUR COUNSELOR

Hello, I'm
Chrissy Peard

Provisional Licensed Mental Health Practitioner

Chrissy is a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.  She graduated with her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in July 2016.  She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Hastings College in May 2010.  Chrissy did her internship at Wholeness Healing Center prior to joining the team full time, in September of 2016.  Chrissy works in the Grand Island office.

Chrissy believes counseling allows the client to learn about themselves, the origins of their beliefs and provides an opportunity of self-exploration.  In doing so the client is allowed to discover their passion and be supported in their pursuit of purpose in order to live their best life.

Work Experience

Chrissy provides child, adolescent, adult, couples, family and group therapy.  She has special interest in working in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma and couples therapy.  Chrissy works with EAP clients using Solution Focused Therapy.

Prior to joining the Wholeness Healing Team, Chrissy served as a camp counselor for Royal Family Kids Camp for eight years, working with children who endured abuse and neglect.  She has directed various children/adolescent programs.  Her background has provided her the opportunity to work from a systemic approach and develop skills in working with youth, families, and groups.

Chrissy has facilitated adolescent and adult probation groups, children’s DBT groups, mindfulness groups for both adolescent and children, and Love and Logic parenting classes.

Chrissy is a member of the NCA (Nebraska Counseling Association) and ACA (American Counseling Association).

Trainings

Chrissy has been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychological First Aid and mindfulness.  She continues to attend trainings for personal and professional growth and understanding.

Personal

She loves spending time with her boyfriend, family, friends and dog.  She enjoys being outdoors, walking, swimming, kayaking, crafting, traveling and fitness. Chrissy seeks to grow and be active in her faith.  She is seeking wellness, and pursuing purpose, and finds joy in helping others do the same.
