MEET OUR COUNSELOR

Hello, I'm
Christina Larsen

Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner

Christina Larsen is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Licensed Professional Counselor. Christina believes relationships are the cornerstone of the work of a counselor, providing a supportive environment to empower people to heal in ways they are not able to on their own. Her approach to counseling involves putting the client at the center of therapy, focusing on the mind-body connection, and viewing problems through trauma-focused and attachment-based lenses. Christina integrates elements of humanistic, psychodynamic, and Adlerian theories in her practice. Christina is trained in EMDR and PCIT and focuses her work with children, adolescents, and young adults. Christina is currently training in play therapy, child-centered play therapy, and sand tray.

Education and Work History

Christina graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX with a Master’s in School Counseling in 2017, and finished the certificate program in clinical mental health counseling from Lamar in May 2021. Christina also earned a Master’s degree in Literacy from Concordia University in 2016 and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Wayne State College in 2006. Christina worked as an educator for fourteen years, serving as a classroom teacher and school counselor. She completed her internship with Wholeness Healing Center in the spring of 2021.

Family and Fun

In her free time, Christina enjoys life on the farm, playing with her children, and long walks with her dogs. She finds fulfillment by doing volunteer work for the community, including working with her children’s 4-H club and her church. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, landscape photography, kayaking, baking, snuggling up with a good book, watching romantic comedies and Disney originals, and spending time outside.
