Hello, I'm
Melanie Gabbert
Licensed Mental Health Practitioner
Melanie Gabbert, Ph.D., LMHP, is a licensed mental health practitioner and developmental psychologist who sees clients via telehealth.
Education
Melanie received her Master’s degree in community counseling from Andrews University and her Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She has enjoyed participating in ongoing training focusing on strengths-based interventions, trauma-informed care, serving youth and families in crisis, and Parenting With Love and Logic.
Experience
Melanie began working in the mental health field in 1995. Previous experiences include working in partial-hospitalization and day-treatment programs as well as in community-based services of outpatient therapy and family support. In these different programs, Melanie provided individual, group, and family counseling to children and adults who were in crisis and provided mental health consultation to foster care and juvenile justice programs.
The specific tools used in therapy vary according to the client’s needs, but Melanie believes that wholeness is the goal and strives to help clients develop a lifestyle full of self-care habits, appropriate boundaries, and compassion for others that support long-term mental health and wholehearted living. Melanie is interested in working with youth and adults in individual and family therapy.
Personal
Melanie loves spending time outdoors, camping, or visiting the family farm in Missouri. She also enjoys reading, visiting new places, DIY projects, and doing just about anything with her family. She is a single mother to four amazing children and has one phenomenal grandson.
