Hello, I'm
Valerie Harris
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Valerie Harris LCSW, LMHP, (she, her, hers) earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years’ experience helping children, adults, and families from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual/gender identity, and cultural backgrounds. Valerie is an ally for the LGBTQ+ community. She has extensive experience working with individuals and families in crisis and advocating for victims of intimate partner violence.
As a therapist, Valerie recognizes that it takes courage to reach out and ask for assistance; she applauds the bravery of those who do. Practicing client-driven therapy, she will meet you where you are, and work with you to set goals and address symptoms based on the needs you identify. Valerie finds treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, and narrative therapy particularly useful. She plans to continue to learn different intervention techniques, so she is able to assist you with a variety options when working with her.
Valerie began serving the needs of children and families while working in Protection and Safety with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. This advocacy work continued when she co-founded Healing Hearts and Families, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving victims of intimate partner violence. Before joining Wholeness Healing Center, Valerie provided therapeutic services to clients over 55.
Valerie looks forward to working with anyone who needs a supportive and caring professional, though she has a particular interest in working with clients over the age of 55 or those that have survived domestic violence.
Outside of work Valerie enjoys spending time with her 2 adult daughters and extended family. She also enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures.
