STAFF INTRODUCTION – VALERIE HARRIS
Hi, I’m Valerie and I feel honored to be able to join Wholeness Healing Center. I began serving the needs of children and families while working in Protection and Safety with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. This advocacy work continued when I co-founded Healing Hearts and Families, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving victims of intimate partner violence. Before joining Wholeness Healing Center, I provided therapeutic services to clients over 55.
I earned my bachelors and masters degrees in social work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My masters degree was earned after my time with Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. I have been a foster parent and am currently a guardian for a developmentally delayed adult. I have a biological daughter who is also a social worker. I have spent the last 30+ years learning and working to make a difference in people’s lives and I plan to continue to learn new skills to ensure that I can assist people in making positive changes in their lives.
Away from work I love spending time with family; this fall I gained a son-in-law and a grandson. Friends are also an important part of my life and I grateful that they give of their time so we can enjoy each other. I enjoy living in Nebraska and marvel at the change of seasons each year. I like to travel to learn about different cultures and just experience the people who live there.
I will be working primarily out of the Broken Bow and Ord offices and spending one day a week in the Grand Island office. I will be offering in-person and Telehealth sessions. Please call our office at 308.382.5297 to schedule an appointment.
