as we celebrate “Heart-Centered Wellness for Life”
with an open house from 11-2 p.m. at the Grand Island location.
WHC was born from my own early life experiences of pain, suffering and healing. WHC was born out of this motivation. It is our mission to help people suffer less. Having walked it, we know it is doable – suffering and pain can be treated and as mental health providers, we can facilitate others to find their way, find the tools, be empowered and have the energy then to
live out their own mission of their life. This mission has anchored our services and brought about growth.
Our growth is rooted in the depth of our long-standing employees who help us go deep and maintain stability as we hold the space for this work. These employees have impacted who we are and continue to make a difference every day as they bring their hearts to their work. This includes Michelle Choplin, with us since 1998, Jacqui Schlund 1998, Deb England 2003, David Duke 2006, Dorothy Molczyk 2007, Jody Johnson 2007, Karla Paro 2009 and Jodi Studnicka 2011. There have also been those who came and planted seeds that blossomed as they moved on but changed us because they touched our lives. And then of course, there are also those who landed here more recently but feel as if they have been a part of our mission and family forever. This includes Erica Hardessen 2014, Dawyn Otto 2014, Jenn Gray 2014, Nadine Stuehm 2014, Sandy Cook Fong 2014, Michelle Stoller 2015, Michele Taylor 2015, Carol Owen 2015, Chrissy Peard 2016, Keri Brugger 2016 and Barb Ernst 2017.
WHC brings mental health services to Grand Island, Kearney and Broken Bow through its daily mission of servicing rural mental health needs. Fifteen therapists, an EAP administrator and four support staff help to make this mission happen. The eclectic menu of services being offered at WHC come as a result of our therapists doing their own work, stepping into their own passions to provide the services that resonate with their own paths. Holistic services give people options in how they want to approach their healing. Our EAP program allows for services to be brought to the work environment.
But maybe most importantly, WHC is based on our deep-rooted desire as humans for connection with others which ultimately can’t happen until we connect with ourselves – when we remember who we are. This is our desire for you this Valentine’s Day, that you connect with you. “Heart-Centered Wellness for Life” is our own personal work. It starts with listening to ourselves, stepping into hearing ourself, and finding our way to validate, heal, and step out with courage to do the work that we were meant to do. As I look back over the last 30 years – it has come full circle. The journey has laid the foundation for what we want for people when they walk through the doors of WHC. We become the conduit to allow the pain to transmute into whatever it is to be. It is holding the space for it to happen, the space for others to show up and do their own work. We hold it and contain the safety of the space while people delve into their hearts, allowing vulnerability, hearing from their hearts the messages and stepping into whatever may be called.
As WHC celebrates 20 years, we celebrate you. We celebrate those who have found refuge in doing their work, opening their heart, finding themselves, connecting with who they are. We celebrate those who are contemplating this option. We celebrate all who walk the journey of life, who know what pain and suffering is, who care about others in pain and suffering, and do what they can to heal themselves, one step at a time. We honor each of you today.
Please join us on Valentine’s Day as we celebrate “Heart-Centered Wellness for Life” with an open house from 11-2 p.m. This is our chance to say thank you for walking the red road of life with us and to connect with you. From our heart to yours!
