Joey Cadek

Joey Cadek (he/him) is a provisionally licensed clinical social worker and provisionally licensed mental health practitioner. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Gerontology from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in December 2016. He also achieved a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in December 2016. He completed his Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in May 2021 and joined Wholeness Healing part-time in February 2022. Joey works in the Ord office and also offers telehealth services.

Joey has developed an interest in depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, and gender identity. He previously has worked with the older adult population where he developed a strong passion for helping those individuals work through life transitions.

As a therapist, he believes it is important to understand clients as individuals despite their struggles and works towards getting them back to where they feel successful through a self-discovery model.

Experience

Joey currently works as a Program Director of an intensive outpatient behavioral health program working with older adults 55+ and facilitating structured outpatient individual, family, and group therapy. He helps older adults through aging concerns, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. He also provides community outreach and Memory Care and Grief support groups to the local area. Prior to that, he worked as a Director of Social Services in a long-term care facility where he was an advocate for facility residents, providing resources, performing assessments, and assisting them in their recovery plan. He did his practicum with a Home Health and Hospice agency working with end-of-life patients, providing resources to caregivers and loved ones.

Training

Joey is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and enjoys working with caregivers of loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementias. He also has received training in CBT, DBT, and enjoys the opportunity to learn and grow every chance he gets. He is certified in Basic Life Support. He engages primarily in CBT and other trainings on an ongoing basis to continue to be able to provide practice.

Personal

Joey lives in North Loup and enjoys spending time with his family and friends and loves to travel. He works as a full-service travel agent as a fun adventure for himself and to share his love of travel with others. He is involved in his community and enjoys volunteering with various organizations most specifically the Alzheimer’s Association. Joey is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
