Hypnosis: Focus, Relaxation and Empowerment

Hypnosis is a modality which can be used to enhance a performance, any performance, whether it be physical (sports), academic (testing preparation or performance), or in the work place (quality of work, goal setting, focus and concentration). Because hypnosis involves the subconscious, the 90% of our brain that we rarely use, re-training that part allows a person to totally become more in control of what he/she does, as well as the accompanying attitude.

So how does it work and how can it work for you in enhancing your performance? Hypnosis helps one to relax, to find a spot to return to that is always relaxing. In fact, it really allows you to take over managing your anxiety, with a “tool” that you can always use. Add the imagery and visualization, and your ability is increased even more. As anxiety decreases, self-confidence increases. As self confidence increases, focus and concentration are multiplied. As focus is enhanced, so then is the ability to “step into” your own self talk, setting positive forward intention.  In fact, the sky is the limit!

Logistically, the session would give you the tools of relaxation (controlling your anxiety), then empowerment (visualizing and imagining you accomplishing your goal), followed by the positive self-talk (creating positive present affirmations) that will help to integrate the conscious thinking with the subconscious. All of this is done with the client setting the goals, then having the therapist suggest those while in the hypnotic state. The client can record the session, or the therapist can burn a disc for the client, enabling the client to listen many times, thus reinforcing the positive intention.

As one then is able to control the anxiety, visualize a “new” image of succeeding, use the positive self-talk, self-confidence is increased, thus empowering a person to do anything!   Because the client identifies the goals and the positive affirmations he/she is working towards, each script must be tailored to the client. And as the person has his/her own recording, the client can choose when and how often to use that, thus increasing the ability to manage the modality. The more a person learns to manage the hypnosis, the more confident one becomes, thus propelling him/her onward.

Using the modality of hypnosis to achieve peak performance, in conjunction with the other modalities in the package, further enhances the possibilities. So really, the sky is the limit! More information can be found at http://www.wholenessheali.wpenginepowered.com/therapy-services/hypnotherapy.
