Barb has worked in the field of social work and program development and business management for the past 20 years. Barb spent 10 years developing programs for a mental health agency focusing on juveniles unable to function in mainstream school, community and work settings. Barb worked on committees and teams throughout the state of Nebraska to develop policy and procedure for legislation surrounding business practices to govern new and existing commerce. Barb worked closely with NE Economic Development services analyzing data and statistics that formulate trends for future business growth which were then presented to the Governor.
Barb most recently served Hamilton County by providing and developing services and resources for businesses and industries new building, expansion and succession planning while enhancing economic development county wide.
Barb has continued to grow and learn through trainings which include, Arbinger Management training and Heartland Economic Development Course training. Barb received annual trainings on business development and practices from NEDA-Nebraska Economic Development Association and participated in task force committees to develop and recruit training requests and presenters for NEDA annual conferences. Barb developed and taught safe living classes to children in abusive situations and parenting classes to new and not so new parents assisting them through the years of all the wonderful things our children do, think and say.
Barb graduated from Wayne State College in Wayne Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a minor in psychology and counseling.
Barb has always felt that working with families, both listening and providing resources to enhance their quality of life was a path that she found easy to take. Developing, building and maintain relationships is a vital part of our life experience and is very important to respect the quality of life for those whom we live, work and play with every day.
Barb has channeled her energy to volunteering in the community to offer her strengths in whatever way she can. Volunteering on non-profit boards in Hall and Hamilton County for the past 18 years has enabled Barb to develop relationships over a broad scope of citizens.
In her leisure time, Barb enjoys visiting her adult children and her 4 grandchildren including attending their school and extracurricular events.
Barb also enjoys getting together with friends, reading, painting, decorating her home and helping friends decorate their homes. She enjoys gardening, growing unique flowers and exercising at her favorite gym.
